What are the benefits of Underfloor heating compared to radiators?

There are many benefits to Underfloor Heating;

  • Energy efficient due to lower water temperatures.
  • Comfortable and even temperatures throughout the property – no cold or hot spots.
  • Compatible with all floor types and finishes.
  • Space saving and aesthetically pleasing – no need for radiators.
  • Safe – no sharp edges or hot surfaces.
  • Low maintenance once installed.

Do I still need radiators if I have underfloor heating?

No, underfloor heating will be your main source of heat, radiators are not required, although heated towel rails are often recommended in wet areas, but not essential.

Is my home suitable for an underfloor heating system?

Yes, underfloor heating can be installed in any house, no matter the age, size or floor construction.

Can I use underfloor heating with a heat pump?

Yes underfloor heating works perfectly with Heat Pumps due to the lower water flow temperatures. Heat Pumps are becoming increasingly popular due to the varying Government Schemes and Underfloor Heating is the perfect partner.

Can I get underfloor heating without digging my floors up?

Yes, one of the latest systems we offer is the Opti-Mill system, which uses an innovative routing machine to mill channels into your existing screed or concrete floors. The underfloor heating pipework is then seated neatly within the channel and covered with a self-levelling compound before your finished floor is laid. The heat response time is excellent.

How is underfloor heating controlled?

Each zone of underfloor heating can be individually controlled with a thermostat. This allows the areas requiring a higher or lower temperature to be easily adjusted.

What type of controls should I use?

UFH Solutions Ltd supply Heatmiser controls and a full range of options are available including Hardwired, Wireless, WIFI and APP Ready.

What type of cable should I use for thermostats?

A three core and earth cable should be used as standard, to run between the thermostat and wiring centre always installed by a Certified Electrician. Please always seek our advice on individual projects.

Can underfloor heating be run from my existing boiler?

Yes, underfloor heating works with all types of boilers: including Oil, Gas, Electric & Combination Boilers.

Can I tile directly onto an overlay system?

Our unique Opti-Board system is suitable for laying tiles directly on top, using a non-solvent based adhesive. As the Opti-Board has a cementitious layer it provides both strength and adhesion perfect for tiling.
